You’re Not Procrastinating - You’re Paralyzed

I HAVE GOOD NEWS AND HARD NEWS

I’m going to keep this brief because I’m honestly in an AuDHD task paralysis these days. I carefully broke out of my paralysis to put together this email blast, and once I send this off to my podcast editor/producer, I’ll be doing a rest activity — like my new obsession: color-by-number adult coloring books.

I’ll be choosing to zone out as I recover from the long and difficult days I’ve been having lately. Even when I’m not physically tired, due to my mental state, I am physically unable to get things done right now. It happens. I accept it, I work with it, and I know it will pass.

If you relate to that paragraph, except for the part where I mention “acceptance”? This episode is for you — and today is your lucky day, because this episode is out right now.

EPISODE 47: ADHD Task Paralysis

In this episode: Have you ever felt completely frozen, staring at your project, knowing exactly what needs to get done — but physically unable to begin? It’s not procrastination — it’s ADHD Paralysis — and there are three kinds: mental paralysis, analysis paralysis, and task paralysis, all of which can lead to shutdowns. It’s a neurological issue (executive functions not functioning) as well as an emotional one (a trauma response). Whether you're ADHD or AuDHD, this episode helps you understand that you don’t need more willpower — you need more compassion. You’re overwhelmed, and you deserve support.

This week’s episode of “You Are A LOT” (an ADHD/AuDHD podcast) is out now, free on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, or other podcast apps.
